How to make pipe cleaner dolls

      Make pipe cleaner dolls

I love this little tutorial from Parenting Fun on how to make pipe cleaner dolls.  They are so easy to make and oh so very cute, perfect for a rainy day activity, you just need some pipe cleaners, wool and bits of fabric…. soon you will have your own pipe cleaner family!  Perfect for creating the characters out of fairy tales – which story will you tell?

      Campervan time

      May 4th

      20130504-164026.jpg

At last a few days away in the campervan! It’s been a long time coming, but the sun is shining and the birds are singing. What a lovely way to spend the weekend. It is very tranquil, in the middle of a field in what feels like the middle of nowhere! I get to read books, sew, knit……whatever I like and no guilt about the jobs I should be doing, like cleaning the windows! Happy days!

Fun things to do with a scanner

      Apr 29th

It’s surprising how creative you can be with a scanner

It is so lovely when someone buys you flowers,  to say sorry, or to say I am thinking of you, I love you …..but isn’t it sad when they fade and you have to throw those memories away?  So why not try to preserve them a little and make a photo memento?

      • Choose one of your favourite flowers from the bouquet/bunch (or maybe one out of the garden!)
      • Trim it down to a reasonable size to fit onto your scanner
      • Place the flower on the scanner bed – remember it is going to lie flat so arrange the petals a little so that they don’t look too squashed
      • Follow your scanners instructions and scan the flower to your computer and save it as an image
      • Now you need to do a little magic on it!

I use an online photo editor called iPiccy and I love it!  It is so easy to use, has never let me down and it’s free!

Upload your photo to iPiccy and add a few special effects – these are the ones I used for this photo:

      • The Layers tool to add the text
      • Then the Textures tool to add the paper effect
      • And finally the Frames tool to round the corners

There are many more things you can do with this photo editor – explore and play!

      Where did the time go?

      Apr 29th

Where oh where did the time go tonight?

Is it really possible for 3 hours of my life to disappear messing about on this blog?  Goodness, I seem to have arranged and rearranged, categorised and recategorised, tagged and re-tagged – and it doesn’t look any different!  The poor dog couldn’t be more bored…..each time I get up to make a cup of tea, he lifts his head and wags his tail in eager anticipation, then follows me to the kitchen, sure that I am going to pick up his lead and ball…and all I do is put the kettle on!  Sorry George, forgive me, but tonight is a little blog maintenance!

      Is it time yet?
