Newspaper trees

Tree

Do you remember making these as a child?  I can remember making loads of them and putting them into jam jars to make ‘flowers’ for my mum!  I used to love the sound they made when you waved them around!  They are fun to make and cost nothing but an old newspaper!

Take about 5 sheets of newspaper – the more sheets you use the harder it is to cut!

Roll the sheets up into a tube, starting from the narrow edge

Put an elastic band or some sellotape around the bottom of the tube to hold it together

Now you need to cut from the top of the tube down to where your band or sellotape is.  Cut four or five strips through all the layers – this can be quite tough!

The fun part!  Take hold of the strips in the centre of the tube, at the top, at gently pull!  All the layers will pull up and out to give you your tree.  Don’t pull too far – you don’t wont to pull the strips out of the tube, just enough to give you your ‘branches’!

Put your finished tree into a jam jar, and there you have it!
